Newsletter
A newsletter, “Notice Board”, will be distributed weekly to parents, in addition to specific notices when applicable. This is available on-line by selecting the 'Noticeboard' link on the homepage.
Assemblies
Assemblies are held twice a week. The first on Monday mornings is for administrative purposes and enables the school to start the week with prayer and worship. The second on Friday mornings is a time of worship and announcement of student awards. Families of students are welcome to attend all assemblies.
Assessment and Reporting
Teachers will assess student learning regularly and maintain evaluation records. Student reports will be issued quarterly, with comprehensive graded reports given to parents twice per year. Parent/teacher interviews will be held twice during the year.
Parent / Teacher Interviews
Parent/teacher interviews will be held twice during the year. However, we also encourage parents and teachers to talk informally as part of our practice of open communication. Please make an appointment directly with your class teacher for interviews apart from those scheduled.
School Visits
Parents are welcome to visit the school. Before planning a visit, parents should consult with the school office to ensure that the scheduled visit will not interfere with planned classroom activities. All visitors, regardless of the reason for their visit, must sign in with the guard to receive a security pass and report to the school office before going to any classroom.
Telephone calls
Messages for teachers and/or students can be left with the office administrator. Teachers are not available for telephone calls during lesson time. Please do not contact teachers regarding school-related issues until the school day has ended. This will ensure minimal disruption to the school day. Matters of urgency should be bought to the attention of the office or Director as necessary.
Parent’s Afternoon Tea
Early in the school year all parents and teachers will be invited to a social afternoon tea where a light snack will be served. The afternoon will provide an opportunity for parents and staff to form new friendships and renew previous ones, as we develop our school community.
After this, each Friday afternoon beginning at 2.15pm the Parent Council holds a regular afternoon tea for all parents and students. Refreshments are provided for parents attending, and ice-blocks are available to the students for a small donation.
School problems – grievances
Good relationships within the school community give children a greater chance of success. In the event of a grievance the following principles will apply.
1. Pray about the issue.
2. Everyone will be treated with respect.
3. In the first instance discuss the concern with the relevant teacher at a time convenient to you both.
4. Allow a reasonable timeframe for the issue to be addressed.
5. Should either party not be satisfied with the outcome, arrange to meet with the director.
6. Meetings to discuss grievances will be suspended if any person(s) behaves in an insulting or offensive manner.
7. Generally "The 2 Day Rule" will be applied to arising grievances; i.e. whenever someone has an issue with another’s behaviour they will confront the behaviour or make mention of an intention to discuss the issue within two days. If this does not occur the understanding is that the individual has chosen not to address the issue and MUST let it go.
